​Ensuring safety for people and things is the fundamental purpose behind the mandatory certification system for electric and fuel products that are marketed in the country, established by the SEC following the most rigorous international regulations in the field.

This system governs for those products that, in the opinion of the Superintendency, require to demonstrate minimum safety standards to avoid accidents during the use of these.

Each year the SEC is incorporating new products into the mandatory certification system. This, according to the commercial evolution and of the customs, considering parameters such as the possible dangerousness of the product, its degree of penetration in massive terms and the possibilities that it can be manipulated by people who are not qualified.

This measure obliges manufacturers, importers and / or traders to ensure that their product, regardless of their origin, holds a certificate that proves to comply with any of the permitted certification systems, in compliance with the protocol of analysis and / or tests established by the Superintendency. Such certificate of approval can only be granted by a Certification Body authorized by the SEC specifically for the product being processed.
